- 1 (4 ounce) package sweet baking chocolate (such as Baker’s German’s Sweet Chocolate(R)) – broken into pieces
- 1/2 cup boiling water
- 1 cup margarine, softened
- 2 cups white sugar
- 4 eggs, separated
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups sifted all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup evaporated milk
- 1 cup white sugar
- 3 egg yolks
- 1/4 cup margarine
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/3 cups sweetened flake coconut
- 1 cup chopped pecans
