Verlynn’s Chocolate Cake
We like to make the icing 1 1/2 times.
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter, room temperature
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup baking cocoa
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 cup milk
- Icying:
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup evaporated milk
- 1 cube butter
- 2 teaspoons baking cocoa
- dash salt
Instructions
- Cream butter, sugar and eggs until creamy. Mix remaining ingredients and then add 1 cup hot water. The batter will be a little runny. Pour into a 13×9 baking dish you have greased and floured or sprayed with a baking spray. Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes. When cake is done remove from oven and poke holes in cake with the round end of a wooden spoon or something similar and pour warm icing all over warm cake. Let cool, still warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream is the best!
- Icing:
- In a saucepan combine all icing ingredients and stir until smooth and comes to a boil, boil for 3 minutes and remove from heat and add 1 teaspoon vanilla.
