I got this recipe from my friend Jeri. She and I catered for a little while, we didn’t make much money but had fun cooking together. We have made thousands of these meatballs. They are still a hit a our house. We usually have them at Christmas and New Year’s.
Ingredients
- Meatballs
- 2 pounds lean ground beef
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup onion, chopped small
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 1/2 cup slivered almonds, chopped
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Sauce
- 1 12 oz. bottle chili sauce
- 1 10 oz. jar grape jelly
- juice of one lemon
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375
- Mix all ingredients for meatballs together, mix well and shape into 2 inch balls. Put on a cookie sheet, you can put them close together. Bake for about 15 to 20 minutes until brown and cooked through. Drain off grease.
- Sauce
- In a small sauce pan combine ingredients for sauce and simmer until jelly has melted. Put meatballs in crockpot on low and pour sauce over meatballs
