My son, Scott and his wife Misha made this syrup the first time I tasted this it. It tasted so good you just want to eat the syrup by the spoon full. It is so easy to make and with only a few ingredients. It is so good on pancakes, waffles and French toast. Enjoy!!
You will need a large pot for this recipe–bigger than you think. The baking soda will cause it to foam more than twice its original volume.
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 tablespoons corn syrup
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
Instructions
- In a large pot combine butter, sugar, buttermilk, and corn syrup and bring to a boil.
- Allow to boil about 3 minutes
- Remove from heat and add baking soda and allow to bubble up.
- Add vanilla and stir.
- Mixture will thicken as it cools
- Serve on pancakes, waffles, French toast etc.
